How to Sell Wholesale Lots: What Buyers Expect in a Listing
What a wholesale lot is, and why listings fail
A wholesale lot is a quantity of goods sold together to a business buyer: a pallet of mixed returns, a truckload of one closeout product, or a category assortment of overstock. Liquidation lots are wholesale lots sold to clear inventory.
Listings fail when buyers can't price them. A title like "mixed home goods, 20 pallets" with no manifest forces every buyer to ask the same questions, and many won't bother. The lots that move are the ones where a buyer can decide from the listing alone.
What every lot listing should include
Buyers look for the same few things. Missing any of them costs you inquiries.
- A manifest. One row per product with name, quantity and, where you have them, UPC, SKU or ASIN. Buyers use it to check resale value item by item.
- Condition. New, open box, customer returns (tested or untested), shelf pulls or damaged. Mixed lots should say roughly how much of each.
- Photos of the actual goods. A few product photos and photos of the pallets or cartons as they stand in the warehouse.
- Location and logistics. Warehouse city and state, whether pickup is possible, whether you can load a truck, and packing details such as pallet count.
- Quantity, MOQ and lead time. Total units, the smallest order you will accept, and how soon the goods can leave.
- Price and terms. An asking price per unit or per lot, and how payment and inspection work. You can quote exact numbers in the conversation.
How Lotflows helps
Lotflows turns the files you already have into a lot listing with those fields, and gives buyers one place to read it and ask about it.
- Upload .xlsx or .xlsm manifests, inventory lists and FBA return reports as they are; Lotflows suggests which column is which, and remembers your choices for the next upload.
- Images pasted into the spreadsheet stay attached to the right products; add more photos from your phone.
- Review everything as a private draft and set price, MOQ and lead time before publishing.
- Buyers can search lots and individual products, filter by category, location, quantity, price and MOQ, and contact you about a specific lot.
- No sales commission, and Lotflows does not handle payment; the free plan lets you keep up to 3 lots live.
Checklist before you publish a lot
- Clean the manifest. Remove sold items, fix quantities, and keep identifiers. Don't worry about matching anyone's template; consistent columns are enough.
- Describe condition honestly. Overstating condition is the fastest way to lose a buyer after the first shipment. Say tested or untested for returns.
- Group the lot the way buyers buy. By category, by condition, or by full truckload. Avoid mixing premium items into a lot of low-value returns; buyers price the lot by its weakest part.
- State location, MOQ and lead time. These three decide whether a buyer can take the lot at all.
- Add photos. Product photos plus a wide shot of the goods in the warehouse.
- Share it widely, negotiate directly. Send the listing to every relevant buyer on the same day and handle questions in one thread per buyer.
